Construction On the Singel phase 2 officially launched!

De Lier – In the heart of the green and lively Lier Quarter, construction of Aan de Singel – phase 2 started on 30 November! A new milestone was reached with the festive first pile driving by alderman Michiel Ferwerda. This special event was celebrated in the presence of future residents and involved parties such as BPD Ontwikkeling, Van Zanten Bouw, Venster Architekten and other cooperation partners. Beforehand, children were allowed to decorate the pile with chalk drawings, so that their works of art disappeared into the ground with the pile. A festive start to a new home!

Lots of interest in the Aan de Singel residential neighbourhood right from the start

Aan de Singel will be a neighbourhood where everyone feels at home. With 64 homes – from modern terraced houses to detached houses – the project offers something for everyone. Think verandas for cosy get-togethers, nesting boxes in the facades and the Wilgenplas as a natural centrepiece. This is living as living is meant to be: green, relaxed and together.

Interest in Aan de Singel was enormous; all the homes have now been sold. The new residents are looking forward to living here. And to soon enjoy everything this special neighbourhood has to offer.

A sustainable future

The neighbourhood is designed with smart solutions such as wadis to collect rainwater and permeable paving. Green streets, trees and flowering plants ensure a pleasant living environment and more biodiversity. Shaded areas have also been considered, ideal for summer days.

During the official ceremony, alderman Michiel Ferwerda spoke enthusiastically about the importance of this project for the community. He emphasised the unique combination of sustainability and liveability in the new neighbourhood, and the positive impact it will have on future residents. “A beautiful new step in this new neighbourhood of De Lier in which everything has been thought of. The houses are sustainable in themselves, but the area itself has also been designed sustainably. For instance, there is plenty of greenery, there are wadis and shady spots provide cooling in summer. Together with the green sedum roofs and integrated nesting boxes, this makes for a climate-adaptive and fauna-friendly neighbourhood.”

A shared dream

Thanks to the cooperation between BPD and Janssen de Jong Projectontwikkeling, with Van Zanten Bouw as construction partner, this neighbourhood is coming to life. Together with creative and expert partners such as Venster Architekten and Van Rossum, a neighbourhood is being built that is not only sustainable, but also bustling with life.

The first pile has been driven, and the realisation of Aan de Singel has begun. A neighbourhood that makes De Lier even more beautiful!
